Growing communities

Fresh Asparagus

We cultivate over 300 acres of asparagus, here, on the North shore of Lake Erie. The sandy soil in our region is ideal for growing the best asparagus in the world.

300 acres of asparagus – Canada’s largest grower and shipper of fresh asparagus —

We are Canada’s largest grower and shipper of fresh asparagus, handling product from approximately 750 acres – 1/3 of Ontario’s total!

Growing asparagus is our pride and joy. Sandy Shore Farms has been both growing and distributing asparagus for over 60 years. There’s nothing quite like the hustle and bustle of asparagus harvest in May and June.

From our hands to yours

Family-run

As we are located on the North shore of Lake Erie, the sandy soil in our region is ideal for growing all varieties of asparagus. Not only do we grow over 300 acres of it but we also receive it all, along with asparagus from other local farmers.

Once the asparagus arrives at the facility, it is thoroughly washed, graded, and packed into boxes to be distributed to grocery stores throughout Canada and the United States.

Our values

SQF-certified

Integrated Pest Control

Regenerative Farming

Family-Owned

SQF-certified

The Safe Quality Food program guarantees that our produce meets rigorous worldwide standards. It’s quite rare that a farm gets this accreditation and we are honored to have it.

Integrated Pest Control

We’re proud to be taking crucial steps for the good of your health and for the environment. We are always looking for ways to reduce pesticide use and move more toward the organic and regenerative strategy of farming.

Regenerative Farming

We’re currently planting forage and cover crops in our crop rotation to enrich soil nutrients and health. We are experimenting with livestock in creating close loops in recycling our food by-products.

Family-Owned

For generations, the family has worked tirelessly to cultivate the soil, tend to the crops, and harvest the fruits of their labour. Our legacy is one that extends far beyond our farm.  We want to set an example for others in the industry: we want to show that it is possible to run a successful farm while also being responsible stewards of the land and greater community.
